Now that winter is over, at least in theory, it’s time to start filling in your running calendars. One of the club’s coolest races is the Ice Age 50 trail run on Saturday May 12th. This internationally known 50k race sold out all starting slots in a less than 10 minutes this year! The Half marathon distance sold out in 45 minutes and the 50 miler shortly thereafter. The race features an international field including some the best distance runners in the country. While you can’t participate as a runner this year it is certainly worth a trip out to the Kettle Moraine to check it out. This is one of the most unique spectator friendly finish areas you will ever experience! For more info http://www.iceagetrail50.com/ .
For those who are looking to get in a few miles of their own why not start training for some up coming Strider events? The summer portion of our schedule kicks off with the 5k Superun, Wednesday night June 20th. Superun – 5k – Badgerland Striders . Stick around after the run for a few free brews and an Italian sausage or two sold by the Pompeii men’s club. Race director ‘Salty’ Dave Gavinski guarantees a good time will be had by all!
Three days later on June 23rd is the 5th running of the Hartfest Half Marathon in Wauwatosa. This unique 13.1 mile course is part road race, part trail run as it meanders around some off road areas of Wauwatosa that most people don’t know exist. It’s followed up with a free breakfast right in the middle of the Hartfest festival grounds including free beer and live music. This year’s Hartfest shirt will be the 2018 official Badgerland Strider’s racing singlet! The race has been close to selling out the past few years and with the demise of the Rock N’ Soul we could hit the 500 runner limit soon sign up today. HartFest Half Marathon – Badgerland Striders
